Bags are strong enough to reuse as well. The only tradeoff you will make when ordering these bags is paying a higher price. They have they same durability and strength as non-compostable big name brands. Instead of having to either throw them away in the trash where they will last for generations, or wash them out, let dry, then put into a plastic bag recycling receptacle like those found at most big stores and supermarkets, you can compost them. The given timeline for 90 days is true. As long as you are pretty consistent about turning the compost, these bags DISAPPEAR. I think the biggest piece we found left was the size of a quarter. At least this way you can be 100% certain that the bags are being recycled. When regular plastic bags are put in for recycling, if dirty bags are mixed in it can cause a massive amount of bags to be rejected and thrown away. With these compostable bags, you don't have to clean them before putting into the compost pile/bin. Thinking these are better for the environment if you throw them out since they are compostable is unfortunately incorrect. Trash buried with tons of other trash under tons of dirt doesn't degrade anywhere near like compost that is turned and exposed to air, moisture, and bacteria. These will sit there as long as other trash does, so why pay the extra cost? These are more expensive than regular plastic bags but that's the way it will stay until bags like this become the norm. If you can afford the extra cost and are a composter, these are a completely awesome alternative to big name mass produced plastic bags. These are better for the environment than they are my wallet, but worth the trade-off to lessen the guilt. They work as well as any other brand and do the job as expected.I've been trying to make the switch from single-use, disposable products to more eco-friendly options, and I hadn't found a good replacement for zip top bags until now. These compostable quart-size bags are just as good as the originals in pretty much every way. The material is soft to the touch, but seems durable - it hasn't failed me yet and can be stored in the fridge or freezer. The zippers work well and don't leak at all, even carrying liquids. The only downside is that it's an opaque material so you can't see the contents of your bag from the outside. This is a small tradeoff for me though - if I need to differentiate, I can write labels on the bags. They're a little bit pricier than the standard disposable options, but I'm happy to pay a little more to know I'm not putting any more plastic in our oceans! These " Compostable Zip Bags, 100 Count Quart, 2 Pack | Freezer, Sandwich, Food Storage & More | Resealable Lock | Biodegradable Responsible Product |Compostable Zip Bags, 100 Count Quart, 2 Pack | Freezer, Sandwich, Food Storage & More | Resealable Lock | Biodegradable Responsible Product |" are nice! They work well, seal easily, and don't tear. Highly recommend these! So far I'm impressed with how well this product works to hold foods without leaking air or liquid, combined with the fact that they are compostable. I wasn't sure how well a cornstarch-based bag would hold up but I am pleased with their perfomance. I chose the quart-sized bags. They have a white frosted look and a slightly matte feel as opposed to slick and shiny. Typical quart bags I have used from other brands are more of a rectangle shape, but these are basically square, shaped more like a sandwich bag. In my photo, look closely and you'll see I have placed a regular sandwich bag on top of one of these bags so you can compare the size. You can see this bag is slightly larger than the sandwich bag. I placed a standard quart-size bag is next to it, so you can compare the difference. Standard quart bags are slightly taller than these. These do not have a slider for the zipper, and I am fine with that, I generally prefer products that are simpler, less expensive and with less moving parts, so to me a slider is just an unnecessary extra.I was able to try and test these bags in exchange for my honest review, so I did not pay for them, but the seller's price as of today is IMHO reasonable for this product, despite being quite a bit more expensive than regular zipper bags. It is worth it for those who can afford it because these bags are so much better for the environment, though I realize not everyone will have it in their budget to pay this much for 200 plastic zipper bags. On a daily basis you would probably only spend a few cents more so it may be worth it for many, especially if you are using these to pack a lunch or dinner that you would otherwise purchase from a restaurant. Packing your own meals and snacks will certainly more than make up for the extra cost, and these bags allow you to do that, in addition to all the packaging you are saving from the landfill, including the excessive packaging that is generated from just one fast food or restaurant meal.An sich sind es gute Bags, die aber schlecht schließen. Der Verschluss öffnet sich sehr leicht. Schade!I’ve always felt guilty for tossing out plastic bags so I’m happy to have this option.Glad I purchased these, they're so well made. Glad to do my part for the environment.Firstly, as a product these bags are very good. They work perfectly and have that weird slightly matt, soft feel to them that other degradable products have which, I rather like.Value for money is good compared to other similar products. There is a 'But' though and it's around the marketing. You will note that this is 'compostable' and that's quite important to understand because it does not mean what most people think. There are two main categories of this type of plastic. Biodegradable and compostable and understanding the difference is important. Compostable is just that. You must put this into a compost heap that's turned to allow oxygen and sunlight to work in the product to break it down. If you put these into the bin they may well end up in landfill and then they won't degrade because they are buried and are no better than plastics made from oil.If you are going to get bags that will breakdown in a landfill then you need biodegradable bags not compostable ones. So, bottom line is that if you buy these thinking you can put them in your bin and feel environmentally happy, well, you can't.I hate having to use food bags once and then throw them away for hygiene reasons and to be honest these Project Earth Compostable Bags are even worse because they're really good quality and you feel equally guilty chucking them away. Luckily the fact they're compostable means they're easier to reuse after they've finished protecting your lunchbox sandwiches or frozen leftovers because you can put organic waste from your chopping board into them and throw the whole thing in the compost heap with no mess. I wish they were slightly bigger so they could be repurposed to line the food caddy on our worktop but they're still useful for composting smaller amounts or smelly things you don't want fermenting on the countertop for days. They're surprisingly hefty and tough, some compostable plastic is very brittle and tears too easily but these are great. The press-lock strip (not really a ziplock because there's no zip) is moulded from the same plastic and also feels sturdy, works really well and is an integral part of the bag. They don't like being wet very much and will start to soften and weaken if left that way for too long but for all normal food-related purposes they're great. The one and only disadvantage is the price which is so much higher than their less eco-friendly counterparts, that aside they're great.
